I wish there was a way To go back Relive my dreams Change the things I regret

Tower Road 03:29
Take my first steps on tower road Searching for my dream Personal legend waits for me Find my destiny Climbing upon my tallest peak Always stare ahead Scraping and crawling over the rocks I can finally 10,000 steps on Tower Road Future looks more bleak Fall and get up and fall again Each fall brings a louder shriek Longer I spend upon the road the goal becomes less clear Back and forth back and forth endlessly Trying to tear down the wall Document and evaluate Change the circumstance Change the path? Growing pains Maybe a flat plane Maybe backwards growth Where’s the focus? Losing sleep as I drift away As I lose myself Lose the world around me Isolated, exacerbated Can’t turn back This road leads back to start

And we’re still here like this, it’s what it’s always been the state’s deception, nothing is for us, they ignore us the people are sick of this and if nothing can fix it we’ll eat the truth for breakfast, we’ll keep fighting, till justice makes it right if the foundation of a nation is built on a lie small adjustments only serve to waste our time jim crow’s in the prisons, and that’s just the beginning! the news is thinning but you’ll see them out on the front lines until we’re winning shelter our brothers! uplift our sisters! look close at the system and face the fact things have never been fair keep doing your research, reveal the truth, and speak out at the evil America’s not free and no one is equal (What’s really free and who’s really equal?) how are you supposed to build a nation (when) those in power are just taking us for fools if there was ever a means to the questions the answers serve for only breaking down the rules they see us taking the cities back and it’s so far from over we will have seen the change that we want now when we’re older get out of your home and in the street no justice no peace get out of your home and in the street no justice no peace And we’re still here like this, still what it’s always been the state’s deception, nothing is for us, they ignore us the people are sick of this and if nothing can make it right we flood the city streets, we’ll keep fighting, till our justice makes it right if you know that it’s time to make a change what will it take to rearrange take it all apart and decolonize, that the whole thing is broken stay listening and you’ll know that the people have already spoken get out of your home and in the street no justice no peace get out of your home and in the street no justice no peace get out of your home and in the street no justice no peace get out of your home and in the street no justice no peace

It’s nowhere I’ve been searching all day in doorways, under garbage cans and it’s futile, and by the strength of unknowns I knew that you’re dreaming, in a field that you know won’t be there tomorrow (unless) the fighters and their crowds can uncover the fire that releases (and) refracts like a spirit Leaving in the morning leave this town and I go down what then would you say to be fading somewhere else what would you say to be fading somewhere else settle with Persephone I’ll see you underground you’re lonely you ache for the places you know the path home is all but a straight shot they’ll give you a cold glass of water to invite into your body without drowning but it beats the living leave this town and I go down what then would you say to be fading somewhere else what would you say to be fading somewhere else settle with Persephone I’ll see you underground in the first room you’ll see a beast with three heads (under the ground) so much better than scared to death of the living (under the ground) lay your burdens (down) leave em at the door leave this town and I go down what then would you say to be fading somewhere else what would you say to be fading somewhere else settle with Persephone I’ll see you underground

I will never believe what you say I will never follow your ways The path I carve is always my own Never to be washed away Everyday’s a new challenge Everyday I push some more Everyday I try something new Persisting through the war Swimming through a sea of memories Clinging to the past while everything changes One day I might have to face my fears But aren’t the peaks so good this time of year? I will never back down I will always persist This road will only make me stronger I will never back down I will always persist This road will only make me stronger Thought I would ignore the change Thought I’d always stay the same Let the world turn alone While I trip upon the road Every day just feels the same Everybody grows but me Every time I look ahead I get lost in the breeze Swimming through a sea of memories Clinging to the past while everything changes Tell me now’s the time to face my fears But I can hide behind the peaks all year I have never backed down And I always persist This road has only made me stubborn I have never backed down And I always persist This road has only made me stubborn I will never believe what you say I will never follow your ways The path I carve is always my own Never to be washed away Back from underground In the place I once called home Feel the desolation Feel the emptiness outside See how we’ve grown! Join the band Shelter our brothers! uplift our sisters! Hand in hand They push against us Still resist them Join the band Shelter our brothers! uplift our sisters! Hand in hand They push against us Still resist them We will never bend! In troubled times we prevail Ah ah We push ourselves to the edge Ah ah In troubled times we defy Ah ah I’m never going to comply Ah ah We’ll never bend! I wish there was a way To go back Relive my dreams Change the things I regret I heard you couldn’t stay You had to move on Chase some scene Follow the sound

talk to me I can’t sleep the floating lights are drifting by they echo softly in the dark alone with my heart I wonder how we’ll find each other now satellite if you can hear me tonight I want to give you everything and beam it down on wherever they are if you’re counting on stars I’m coming soon I’ll be on your side and almost exactly, it wasn’t a fantasy it’s happening (if you need it too, you’ll pray for me) Find me in the in between There’s no sign If the path will be kind But I know that I will walk beside you Come what may I promised I’d wait and leave it to fate if you’re holding on I know we’ll make it out The sparks align In just a matter of time I feel the friction on me, take my hand you won’t be lonely (so) when you’re ready my dear I’ll be standing right here Underneath my skin, i know the words you pray I can see clearly that you were no fantasy it’s everything (to me) it’s you in the in-between as far as I can see, it’s true now I listen for your name (cause I want to baby) God knows I would rather be with you I can see clearly that this was no fantasy It’s meant to be, you’re meant to be with me Out of the dark night, it came from the in-between Of everything we believed

I am the snowfall I spread myself across the ground Touch the ends Of the earth Feel the space Of the place I call home You are the river I long to skate down your icy streams Pull me in Push away Either way Can’t be divided As I rise to the surface now Color engulfs me Any time Any day Any place I will stay with you As I slip through the waterfall Frozen and formless Any time Any day Any place I will stay with you Seasons change again now I’m still losing myself Each day blows on past me Laying in the same grave Seasons change again now You’re still losing yourself Each day blows on past you Laying in the same grave Fade away again Your sun is out again Though I long to feel the breeze of winter That won’t stop me from the thought of you I am the mountain The world crumbles beneath me You are the desert I long to be a grain of sand Your glory is all I see! As you sink further in the ground I grasp for your hand Any time Any day Any place I will stay with you As I push my way out of town You pull me in further Any time Any day Any place I will stay with you Seasons change again now I’m still losing myself Each day blows on past me Laying in the same grave Seasons change again now You’re still losing yourself Each day blows on past you Laying in the same grave Fade away again Your sun is out again Though I long to feel the breeze of winter That won’t stop me from the thought of you Seasons change again now I’m still losing myself Each day blows on past me Laying in the same grave Seasons change again now You’re still losing yourself Each day blows on past you Laying in the same grave Fade away again Your sun is out again Though I long to feel the breeze of winter That won’t stop me from the thought of you I wish there was a way To go back Relive my dreams Change the things I regret I heard you couldn’t stay You had to move on Chase some scene “Follow the sound” But I just couldn’t leave This place is my home Unpacked my bags Settled in for the night

Crowds are marching toward the sky On 16th street they sing their plights “The mountains are looking fine tonight” You say to yourself as you miss your flight Do you remember the last time You looked to the west and knew you were home Now you look from the outside Sentiment rendering you blind Did you ever think about the Constant beauty that surrounds you Did you ever take for granted All of these things that were right outside your door The moment comes, the good times end You stand among your unknown friends You shout to power demanding change Knowing they’ll never change their ways You don’t know how to use your voice But know that you have to make a choice When you were young you never knew All of the damage you could do Did you ever think about the Crimes committed all around you You can’t stand to live here now But maybe you’re stuck here despite this awful town You couldn’t look behind the damage that was done A trail of hate you left for all of us to run And now you’re old enough to resent this bitter town You grit your teeth at work, you never thought we’d ever let you Drown in the sea of I.D. Get lost in the new memories This growth takes a year out of me (Don’t forget) Nobody knows who they are You’re one year older now, you’re smarter than before There’s a path you can take will you open up the door? But on your way from home you hear the sirens ring The indecisiveness is never ending never ending Drown in the sea of I.D. Get drunk on the new memories This growth takes a year out of me (Don’t forget) Nobody knows who they are Close your eyes, miss a year Hide behind all your fears Turn your head, break your neck Miss the present you’ll forget They woke you up from your childhood fantasies You tried to crawl back in and set yourself free You can still choose to look away And ignore the change The world is spinning faster now The old can no longer stay Scraping at that old road again Trying to leave this town Maybe this time won’t be the same Look up now you’re almost home - Took a trip to Eden last november Wasn’t sure what I would find But even though I travelled west of Denver I couldn’t help but feel the same Suddenly I felt a little stronger Felt that I could face my fears It’s not the city that creates the power It’s your choices through the years Wind still blows Snow still falls Through it all We still grow I wish there was a way To go back Relive my dreams Change the things I regret I heard you couldn’t stay You had to move on Chase some scene “Follow the sound” But I just couldn’t leave This place is my home Unpacked my bags Settled in for the night I guess we’ll say goodbye We’ll go our separate ways Mind at home Body across the sea You woke up this morning and couldn’t tell why You felt so empty inside The world that you long ago thought you knew Tore itself up from the outside And now it’s all but a shell of itself And you never could get past it And you try to deny it but that doesn’t change The death of a life fantastic And yet we still have miles to go But I am never leaving my home Through the mounds Through the snow Feel you everywhere I go You’ll never believe how much we’ve grown And yet we still have miles to go But I am never leaving my home Feel your soul Feel your dreams Through this faith I finally see And yet we still have miles to go Spring 2013 - Winter 2020. Denver, Colorado

about

Recorded on a mountain top outside Boulder, Colorado, EDGEWATER is the fourth full length studio album by Animal Soup and the first to feature a full band. The album is a sprawling epic that touches on themes of growing up, failure, nostalgia, distant romance, and reckoning with modern injustices and social upheaval. All this is set behind an exciting progressive rock backdrop, a wall-of-sound style of production, and the setting of the band's home state: Colorado. The album is musically diverse, from the synth-pop inspired electronics in Persistence, Resistance & Compliance, to the energetic rock of Breakfast of Champions, to the odd time signature frenzy of Snowfall In Loveland. It features fantastic musicianship, creativity, and a concept that makes for a rewarding full album experience.

The original concept for Edgewater was conceived by guitarist Josh Mundt in 2013 and the album was written, demoed, shelved, revisited, and reworked regularly throughout the following 7 years. In 2020, with a new lineup of Animal Soup formed, the project was revisited with new songs added including lyrical contributions from vocalist Faye Baulch. Recording commenced in July of 2020 and continued steadily through the second half of the year until completion in December 2020.
